Dear Sir/Madam, We are planning to travel to Djibouti from Ethiopia by train, departing from Dire Dawa and entering Djibouti by land/rail. We are two travellers, one Georgian citizen and one British citizen, and we would be grateful if you could advise us on the visa procedure. Could you please confirm whether we can apply for the Djibouti e-Visa when entering the country by train from Ethiopia, rather than arriving by air? If so, could you please advise which border/point of entry we should indicate in the e-Visa application? We would also appreciate it if you could confirm whether there are any additional documents or requirements for Georgian or British passport holders entering Djibouti by train. Thank you very much for your assistance. Kind regards, Shorena Joel

Hello, my husband is a Djiboutian citizen. He was detained in Ethiopia because his visa expired a few days ago. Despite paying the late payment penalty, they are demanding an additional $3,000 and have confiscated his passport and ID. Could you please help us?

Dear Mr Consul, We are a Greek couple planning to visit Djibouti the last days of January. Since we travel by train from Dire Dawa we can't get a visa on arrival. We tried to get an e-visa but they need the train tickets from Dire Dawa to Djibouti with our names on them. The flight ticket out of the country doesn't seem to be enough. I was told the train tickets are on sale only 5 days before departure. So the e-visa is out of the question since it will be late. Plus we don't have a mobile phone to upload the train tickets. I don't know if we could have the visa issued from the consulate either on our way to Harar (Sunday, January 25th) or returning from there the following day (Monday, January 26th). We plan on taking the train on Tuesday, January 26th. If this can be done could you please tell me what do we need to have with us? How long will it take to have the visa issued? Also how much it will cost us? By the way what are your working hours? Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely, Aristea Parisi
